This is a human problem, not a spec problem
ACX's own submission requirements name excessive mouth noise as grounds for rejection — and it's a human reviewer who catches it, listening to your file, not an automated check. That makes it the one failure mode a spec checker structurally cannot see: peak, RMS, and noise floor can all read clean, and the file still comes back.
What you're actually paying $59 to avoid isn't a feature — it's re-recording a chapter, or a submission that bounces with a note attached to your name.
Two knobs, because the right value is per voice
Nobody pays $59 for two sliders — they pay it because a sibilant-heavy voice, a dry close-mic'd booth, and a book that keeps fighting the detector each want a different setting, and the free plugin can't give it to them.
Frequency — 1–4 kHz
Where the detector starts listening for a click. The detect band moves with it (coupled at 2×), so aiming it at where your voice's clicks actually sit doesn't leave the octave around them uninspected.
Widen Repair — 0–3 ms
Extends a repair a little further on either side, for clicks that decay slower than the detector's default window assumes.
Both default to the free plugin's certified behaviour — install Pro and change nothing, and it sounds identical to Free, until a session comes along that needs otherwise.
It's also live the whole time, the same as the free plugin it's built on — RX is an offline editor you import a file into, wait on, and export back out. Pro repairs clicks in real time while your session plays, in your DAW.

Does it need to be online, or phone home?+
No. Mouth De-Click Pro is fully offline once installed — there's no activation server and no machine binding. Your licence key carries its own signature, which the plugin checks locally; it never has to reach out anywhere, not even the first time you type the key in.
How does the licence key work?+
Your key is bound to your account email, not to a machine — install on as many of your own computers as you use. Inside the plugin, click the “Frequency and Widen are Pro controls” line to open the activation panel, then paste your key there. (The Unlock Pro button just brings you back to this page to buy — it isn't the activation control.)
